BELOW – Temuco, Chile: In April 2018, Mapuche Lonko (leader) Alberto Curamil [looking toward the back of the courtroom] was arrested on trumped up charges after he successfully stopped two hydro-electric dams. In 2019 he was awarded the coveted Goldman Environmental Prize. He was facing 50 years in prison for a crime for which there was an absolute absence of evidence connecting him to the events in question.
